Next step up from a Feigao? - 06.12.2006, 06:35 PM

Hi all,

Have some money to put into a truck and you guys have helped me make a lot of the decision - now it comes to the heart and soul of the truck - the motor and controller...

I'd like to go one step up from the Feigao/9920 setup and was considering a Lehner. Do I have to go with a 1930/40/50 or will something like a Lehner Basic XL2800 be a good step up? I don't really wanna spend 250-300 on a motor to start but I certainly wouldn't have a problem spending double what a Feigao runs for (~150-175ish)

If anyone can offer any insight as well as tell me how much of an advantage there is moving away from a feigao i'd appreciate it.

1940 or 1950 would definatley go with the truck better than a basic xl.

they would have more power and less heat

the basic xl's run hotter for sure. look at their size vs power.

To be honest, I did the same thing. I went with a XL3100 instead because it seemed like a better motor, but it ran pretty hot. Don't get me wrong, it was a POWERHOUSE. It was a pretty nice motor as well. Just needs more torque so it won't heat up.

So is there anything, in any brand, between the 70 dollar feigao and the 285 lehner? (that's worth buying that is)

The Basic XL's are, but you have to choose very wisely. I think the LMT 19 series is your best bet though.
