Talking I need help to modify my Savage - 06.13.2006, 11:18 AM

Hi guys,

I'm new of this forum and I'm very interested to modify my Savage with a BL motor but I don't know from where to begin.
I have these materials:
Savage 21
Warrior 9920 Brushless Car Controller
Lehner Basic 4200 brushless motor
14 cells 3300
Now:
which are the connections between battery and controller?
I would want mantein the stock 2nd gear. is possible? or I must modify it with eavy 2nd gear?
which other modifications I would have to make?

I hope that someone can help me

THKS

Welcome.

Who sold you this setup? And did that person knew you wanted to use it in a savage?

Either this 9920 or the basic 4200 will go up in smoke at your first run.

You took a 1/10th scale motor (a quite hot one as well) to run a heavy weight savage. on 14 cells it does about 60000 rpm.

Don't use this setup on your savage. You would be better of in getting an 8XL. this makes it possible to use the stock transmission with the automatic twospeed and the mechanical brake.

Only 60,000 RPM?! Try 70,000 RPM! That's an inefficent setup, the motor's spinning about 30,000 RPM faster than it should be for the best efficiency, but as Serum said, the motor's much too small. It's best suited for a vehicle that's less than half the weight of a Savage.

Ok, I don't use this set up but I don't understand, what is the mistake in this set up the controller or the motor?
and what is the power in "watt" of the 8XL Brushless Motors?
sorry the cells 3700
I have also a lehener xl 2400 but I thought was too much.

Thks

Its the other way around. The Basic is to much but the XL might would do on 14 cells. The Savage is a big truck and the little basic motor is WAY to hot. It doesn't have enough torque, its got to high of a kv, ect. Its mainly intended for tc's or stadium trucks. The XL2400 might be a option just gotta watch the temps closely. The Feigao XL motors are capable of 1800watts I think. That would be my top choice. Probably a 9XL.
