What ratio for E-maxx + Feigao 9l ??? - 06.21.2006, 06:01 PM

hello friends,
I just have had a first run with my feigao 9l + warrior 9920...
I was disappointed about the lack of speed!!!
I run the Gmaxx 1 gear setup, 2x7cells, big joe 40 series tires, and for this first test I mounted a 16T pinion with a 70T spur...
My tx is a XS6 Race from Graupner...

Can someone help me to find the right gearing ratio to make my Maxx a rocket??? :028:

All thanks!
Fagzz.

Are you disapointed with the lack of top speed or lack of power?

More top speed... Go up one or 2 on the pinion or down 2 or 3 on the spur.

More acceleration... Go Down 1 or 2 on the Pinion - or Up 2 or 3 on the spur.

If anything stars overheating, go back a tooth or 2, you have reached the limit.

According to my calculations the setuo you are running should be around 37mph top end. If you go down to a 14 tooth, its around 33mph. Up to 17 tooth, around 40mph. Although you are probably reaching the limits at 70/17 if you can run it there without overheating.

I have a emaxx w/ the same motor and esc. I run 66/16 (Almost the same ratio as 70/17) and its about all it can take. I have to run a fan on both the motor and the esc to keep it cool. Mines pretty heavy though. It mign not be as bad if yours is lighter.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

i only have 16, 18, and 20T pinions for my feigao... do you think that I can use a drilled 3mm pinion in place of the 5mm bore ones from Kershaw? if yes i can drill all my old HVmaxx pinions...
Let me the time to try, i just have woke up...

Acceleration is awesome, but top speed is very slow... my hvmaxx was really faster...
