It is a good servo, but I wouldn't recommend it. Especially if you don't have a radio you program the end points. The tend to fry easily if the end points aren't set. Get something like a Hitec or Airtronics with at least 150 oz. or torque. The more the better.

I second Squee's advice. However, if you can set the end-points on the servo and set them correctly, it should be fine. What happens is the steering might be at the end of the throw, but the servo tries to go further. This strains the driver circuits and blows them.

Pretty much any servo will be about the same price if they all have the same specs. I have used the Hitec 5645MG servo before in a Revo with good results. 164oz-in and 0.18 sec @6v isn't too bad for the price (~$56). You can go with a faster/stronger one but price goes up too.

I wouldnt run anything above a 645mg on the stock steering assembly, with a spring saver that goes ontop of the servo. This system suck's and the only thing a more powerfull servo will do is wind up the saver spring instead of moving the tire's. It won't help much. I would advice to get the ue servo saver gen. 4. Way better steering response.

You could also go cheaper on the saver and use the proline. That's what i use and have no probs. With that, you could use the 645mg, that would a nice set up for the money.

The proline is not being made no more.
You can get them off ebay some time.
By just changing the servo saver the stock works better as well.
What power do you have supplying the power to the servos and rx?
Peace!

Have any of you tried a JR Z650M for this? It's rated at:
Torque: 142 oz in @ 6V
Speed: .17 sec/60 degrees @ 6V
It's a bit better specs than the HS-645MG, but also a few $ more unless you find a deal on eBay for one.

No more other hitec digital's than the new tg serie for me. I had one of those 5945 mg which fried without a reason. End point's set, receiver pack and it just died. No smoke, no sign of stress, no weird burned smell, nothing.
I'm running a 5955tg now on a ue servo saver and this setup rock's the world.
