HV-Maxx 6.5/4.5? - 10.08.2006, 11:33 PM

Ill be running 14 IB4200 or 14 GP4300. Which one is better to drive? Will a stock maxx with 3.3 driveshafts handle the power? What kind of runtime geared 12/72. I like the Feigao 540C 8 or 9XL. But i cant find a nice ESC in my buget, maybe a Quark 80B Competition. But thats $290 + a 6v BEC= $330 and the novak would be $280. The novak wouldnt break the axles? Correct? But it is tempting to go with that insane speed and torqe!

The 3.3 shafts can handle all but the most powerful brushless systems you can throw at it. The stock maxx with 3.3 axles can handle the 6.5 easily, though you may need steel idlers. If you go with the 4.5, you may have to upgrade your diff.s a little, and you will definitely need steel idlers.

Have you done the fan mod? 12/72 may prove to be a little too high gearing with the hv unless you've lightened your truck some. If you've done the fan mod (from traxxas forums, basically you have a 12 volt fan in place of the stock novak fan on the esc, and overvolt it by wiring it to the full 16.8 volts, and you can also put an 80mm cpu fan blowing directly on the motor, this allows you to safely gear much higher.)

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
