brushless sytem - 11.02.2006, 02:05 PM

Well, I'm selling the Hv-Maxx as Its not enoug power for my needs. So, I was looking into the feigao 8L or XL motors, running the BK 9920 or quark 125. Just wondering if anyone had a spare esc or feigao motor that they'd like to sell. I would be more than happy to take it off your hands. If nobody would like to sell their spare can someone guide me into the right direction as to where to buy one for a good price?

If no one here is selling any, you can get a new Wanderer XL motor and the Mamba Max ESC (if using 5s or 14 cells) for about $250 total from the RCM store.

I think it included either a MM or a castle esc

New user I have a queston for you. I have a stock emaxx and it does about 22mph(crappy Batts.). I was wondering what HV do you have the 6.5 or the 4.5(the new one or the old one, the old one is like 1inch shorter). I was also wandering what kind of speeds do you get with a pretty good stick pack. Last question since it is a lot cheaper than most brushless motors with esc would it be a good choice to pick on up for my emaxx or is there a way better on for under 400 (If I buy HV i will purchase form my LHS).

Sorry man, I don't own a HV, sold it after 3 weeks of having it! If you are gonna invest in a system, get something like a 9920 and 9xl or 8xl depending on the batts you have. Get the batts first though, it'll all depend on that. Yo u can definately get a better system for under 400.00 here from Mike, that is for certain. You can get the xl motor for 90.00 bucks, and when the 9920 comes in for under 200.00. I think Squee has 9920 for sale. :) Shop around first, then buy. You can easily hit the 35-40 range with the system i suggested with good batts and good gearing.
I run the Neu 15151/y and Qaurk125b by the way.

This is why I think the HVs are mostly a waste. People spend ~$300+ on them, do not get that great of performance, and end up spending more to get a good setup. The HVs are not even that cheap either...

OP and GM360,

The recs so far are good, although I would add the Mamba Max esc ($140) in there as well if you are looking to run 12-14cells or 4s. Its actually even capable of more, but you have to be really careful with the setup to keep it reliable. You will need an external BEC or RX pack as with any ESC over 12 cells (really even 12.)

I think most of the experience here finds the L motors run too hot, unless you have a very light truck. If its 9/10 lbs + go with a XL motor. I really like my 8XL on 14 cells, and even more so on 5S. It reliably does 40 mph on 14 w/o overheating. May want to go with a 7xl if you going to use 12.
