Duct tapeing tires - 04.14.2005, 02:20 PM

Ive read that to stop tires from expanding during high speed runs you duct tape the inside of the tires.Well does it matter how its done? One solid piece or 2 or 3 smaller pieces?Seems everytime I try it in one piece I look like an episode of the Three Stoogies.

It will help
Try cutting strips of tape and overlap them slightly.
Make sure you keep the original shape of the tire though.

Please record your next attempt at the single tape strip, as I rather enjoyed watching the three stooges!:)

You would think someone would make tires with some type of belt in them to stop the ballooning by now. I would think nylon would be a perfect choice since it's light and strong as steel belts would be.

I wish I had seen this thread before I glued all my tires though. Now I'm wondering if I should go through the trouble of ungluing them to put duct tape inthem.
