cant fig. out how this works - 01.03.2007, 03:26 PM

ok i about to build a brushless emaxx. but i cant figure out how to use the dual batterys with the speed controller i want to use.

i was goign to use a mamba max 5400kv with 2 3cell 4000mah lipos

but the speedcontorler one has one battery plug coming off of it.

now do i splite it into two plugs or how do i do it?

thanks

the reason for using the mamba max was cause i can get it for so cheap cause i work at hobbypeople.

also do you think the mamba max will give the car that much power? or should i up it to something else

Well... uh, let me be the first to say the 5700kv motor is not a good choice for an emaxx.

Then we can deal with the wiring issue.

I would suggest you pick up a Feigao 540c 9L from rcmonster and save the 5700 for a 1/10 vehicle. But of course you can run the 5700 if you want... gear it really low and keep it in 1st gear, and watch the temps. If your emaxx is light it might do ok. ??

Assuming :) that you are wanting to make the two packs into a 3s 8000mah setup, you just need to make an adapter that connects both positive wires together and both negative wires together.

You can also just hardwire the battery leads to make a saddle pack and skip using a Y-adapter. The two reds together, and the two blacks together on the battery on whatever plug you use.

ok then say i do get the feigao 540c 9l. how many amps does the speed controller need to be to support it.

it just says its compatible with most any sensorless controller.

and thanks glassdoctor for the wire up.

Like glass says; a KV of 5700 is too much for a maxx.

check Brians work of art on wiring. the way you want to wire is named 'parallel'

Okay, sounds fair to me.

Perhaps this offers a bit of help; Nothing fancy, just some basics about running setups in heavier vehicles.

Sweet. I guess I don't get around enough. I hadn't seen that. Pretty slick BG. :027:

dkros3:
If you do the math and figure the rpms and gear ratio etc... for a emaxx/5700/11.1v for example, you will see how it's a mis-match. The tires would probably spin something like 70mph :005: only if held up off the ground of course. :035:

No biggie though... many ways to skin a cat right? Some have actually run similar setups before, like a Basic 4200 motor with I think 12 cells. That's a pretty crazy setup too.... it worked and was pretty fast but the motor got smoking hot. So even if something "works" it may not work well in a practical way.

ok will i using the rc calculations and i fig. if i use a emaxx Transmission the gears at 37/13 and using the 2nd gear 31/18 and using a 72 spear and 22 pinion gear, with a 3000kv motor and 11.1v it would go 35mph and it did not say it would over heat. would this be good set up?
