Help me choose BL setup for Maxx - 01.08.2007, 07:27 AM

I am planning a BL setup for my existing bashing Maxx as well as my new bashing e-revo project. I have read tons of forums, guides etc but still cant decide alone.

I will run it on dual 2S lipos (looking for 10000mAh 7.4V maxamps) so 4S total. I need 2 packs as i want to use one pack in my yokomo drift car.

I am looking for performace between novaks HVMAXX 6.5 and 4.5 with good runtime.
i have FLM chassis, single speed transmition with metal idler, steel CVDs and T-maxx 3.3 diffs.

I can go with HVmaxx with lipo cut off but i dont know how to use lipo cut off with dual packs (i dont want to use it on just one pack in case the other on dumps faster)

So I would rather go for lipo aware controller and i am lost in all those different controllers/motor combinations. The price should similar to Hvmaxx with lipocuoff
Please help

well for the motor and esc, how mutch are you going to spend.

about your yokomo drift car, i doubt the 10000mah lipo packs from maxamps wont fit. they'll be a bitbig.

you can go with a 8xl and a 9920. there are better options othen then what i gave you but thats a start.

Then the 9920 and the 8XL would be a tough combo to beat!
(Don't forget to buy the UBEC too!)

Do not go HV IMO, the 9920 8xl is a foresure thing and would be much faster. Byt the way...WELCOME

And if i decide not to go for lipos (i really beat my truck and dont want those things to explode) and stay with 7cell packs - 14cell total would the 8xl be ok?

those 10Ah lipos have absolutely no chance fitting on my yokomo

On 14, I would go 7xl. 8xl would do fine, but 7xl would be better IMO

also not to kill this thread, i have watched your videos (bashing ones) Wow i love that bmx track your just one of the lucky ones to live near one like that!

with the 8xl and 14 cells you'll be clearing the large ones. and pulling backflips:p
ahhhhh lucky:)

The first video with orange body is at a huge place with total of 4 bmx tracks with really big jumps , videos 2 and 3 with my friends truck are at different track thats small but on my way from work :) And also has adjacent mini skatepark where i drift with my yokomo.

So decision is between 7Xl and 8XL
Next question is about gearing: I will need
5mm bore 32 pitch pinion gears, right? What tooth?
Right now I have Robinson Slipper with 66T spur. Is it ok? Or should i change spur size or go strobe slipper?

You could gear it to 18/51 mod1 and be pretty fast, if you want something more conservative and more torque, you could go 16/51. If you want more speed, maybe 20/51 mod1, but your temps might get a tad hot.

Hows the 8XL with 14cells going to be as far as runtime?

Will my diffs survive it?
