Need answers on a couple Lipo's - 01.23.2007, 02:47 AM

ok I have found a couple of Lipo's that i want an opinion on. They are the 1700 and 1900 mah lipo's on this page, http://milehighrc.com/Lipos.html, they are the only LIPO's that fit my Mini Quake and might handle the power of my setup (Lehner 1020 11 turn and mamba 25 esc). Please give me your opinions on these packs. If i get them I'll use 2s and 3s setup for various levels of fun. I am waiting on an email for wether they use hyperion taps or something else, before i buy, but want you're opinion on them

thanks

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

The 1900mah look like they would be fine for a mini. Your not really gonna draw more than 20A except for very short bursts and the discharge looks fine at 20A.

It said on there site that TP taps were available, Not Hyperion though.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

The TP's are optional, I asked if the stock taps were hyperion, if not i'll have to get their charger/ balamcer, but if they are hyperion, I can use my LBA10 and TME charger

You like the TME charger? It seems pretty cool.

I have the TME charger as well and it seems to work great. I had a couple questions about the technicals of it's operation and received an email response early the next day! There are a couple very minor things I'd like to change, but it's a solid charger. I do like the fact that it's software updateable.

Very good charger, it uses mah instead of amps, but once you get used to that it practically runs itself

Probably the best feature is the ability adjust your lipo peak voltage from 3.6v up to 4.2v in 0.1v steps. Unfortunately, whatever you set it to affects all charge profiles. So, you can have one profile set for M1 cells and then the other three for regular Lipos.

The wattmeter also comes in handy to discharge my NiMH packs. I just put a decent load on the "motor" outputs and the charger keeps track of the mAh discharged. Could also do this for Lipos too for storage reasons; discharge them to 1/2 mAh capacity.

I REALLY wish it had NiMH functionality too, but was told by TME that there wasn't enough room in the firmware to fit that AND the Li mode.

I also think it could use a heatsink where the FETs/transistors are. That side gets quite warm charging high capacity/high voltage batteries. I'll probably add some sometime. The charger has a temperature activated fan, but as you may recall, I hate to use fans. :)

Back to the subject at hand, the 1020 11turn motor is rated for 30 amps and has a kv of 5400 or so KV. I have been told by Mike that the mamba 25 can handle it with no sweat, I want a lipo that won't go up in smoke on the first run
