how to land a 5 ft drop... - 02.15.2007, 01:56 PM

i made a cheap ramp and took my emaxx out for some fun. we got it on video, but i need to transfer the vid to my laptop. i'll show you when my buddy brings his camera back. my emaxx goes thru a lot of abuse. what setup would you recommend to be able to handle anything you throw at your emaxx?

Get 8 UE supershocks and experiment with the springs/oils. That with FLM or flextech suspension should be a pretty bashable truck!

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I would go for Proline Powerstrokes instead of UE's.

Well, towerhobbies sells them for 47.99 for a set of 2, you need 4 bypass shocks and 4 normal shocks which would cost around 190 bucks off tower. That is an OK price, but you can get them for about 40-50 bucks cheaper if you can find them on ebay.

Powerstrokes are not available anymore, only place i have seen them is Ebay and the last ones i seen were over 100.00

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

With the right setup you can do much more than 5 foot drops! I had stampedes taking continuous 8 foot poundings with no ill effects (no immediate ones at least :005:). And they're not as tuff and a maxx.

I have no advice to go against any of the other suggestions... But, for best bash/jump handling just make sure your set-up allows the truck to bottom out on the skid plates before your shocks bottom out. My 2 cents...

i went to a local hobby shop and found a brand new box of proline powerstroke shocks hanging there for $160. didn't know if i should pass up being able to pick them up in town, so i did. i have a long list of parts to get. i appreciate the help with my truck...thanks guys!

looks like the UE supershock is $160 also. with that being said, which would you rather have? UE or Proline for the same price?

get a savage! they are made for jumping.. and they do a great job IMO..

bottoming out isn't a bad thing bytheway, It's better to have your truck bottoming out, that the suspension hitting the bottom before the skids hit the ground.
