driving technique -

i've broken the gears inside 3 steering servos. what am i doing wrong? i was running a futaba S3010 for a while, then i've upgraded to the Hitec 5645 servo. *cross fingers nothing breaks*
when driving in dirt, do you always lay off the gas when turning? do you slow down before you turn? do you not care and just turn while driving full out?

I dont know if the futaba servo is Metal Geared or not, but if it wasn't, thats probably a reason. The key to not stripping steering servo's is a properly set servo saver (not that you can really set it, but it must be soft enough to absorb impacts).

What vehicle?
most have a built-in servo saver... but it needs to be adjusted so it's loose enough to do the job. My brother in law's Jato stripped the servo gears a couple times because the servo saver was cranked too tight.

Another potential reason is not having the steering endpoints set properly. If the servo is turning further than the vehicle can have its wheels turn, then this is putting extra stress on the servo and its gears. If you're using a digital radio, you can change the endpoints via EPA. If you're using a cheap AM radio, then it might be time to upgrade to a digital one.

Wut car you driving? if you dont have a servo with teh proper amount of torque, you could break it that way.

Metal gear servos are a must for these trucks - Steering is pretty important - there are other areas if you need to save a couple bucks. IMHO - At least 150oz tq and fast is never fast enough for me..
Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

thanks for the help guys.
i'm sorry about not putting enough information. i'm running a pretty heavy setup. Emaxx with FLM chassis, FLM front and rear combo bulks, 3.3 arms, driveshafts, knuckles, turnbuckles, integy Ti front skid plate, integy tranny and rear skid plate, integy front and rear shock towers, wheelie bar, integy msr5 shocks, integy extra firm spring and medium spring, Hitec 5645 metal gear servo, that's all i can think of...
i checked the turning and the wheels can turn farther than the servo, so i'm not over extending the servo. i'm still using the factory transmitter.
maybe it's my driving style. i turn the wheels hard left and right when turning in the dirt at full speed.
