Setup help -
06.28.2007, 01:12 AM
K Im going with the NEU 1y for sure. Now Im not sure on the ESC. Would a MGM Compro 160 amp, 16 cell brushless car controller. Its that one or the Quark. Unless theres another one. Now I heard that the Quark gets really hot. So with the heatsink and two 40mm fans, would that bring things down? I live in Texas and since its summer its getting about 90-100 unless it rains. Yes thats weired I know.:032:
For the gearing Im going to get Idlers and a ofna 51 spur. Im going to be running 40 masher, 40 series moabs, and the stock tires. This will be ran on 14 cells. Im a basher so I would want at least 43 mph.:005:
Now for durability, Will 3.3 axles hold well or will I have to get 3.3 cvds and RC Monster dog bones for the center. Will that hold? Gorilla maxx single speed maybe. I will have to see If first gear will be worthy.:028: Will I have to go will 1/8 scale HB diffs? Or will FLM gear work? Cause then Ill need FLM hybrids. Also do you think a revo would be a better choice for me? One day my car will be metal so?:032: Can this car be built like a tank? Im just a newb with a ton of Q? Man I wish someone with knowledge could move bye me. So FLM hybrids, FLM A-Arms. FLM Bulk braces, FLM Shock towers, FLM chassis, RC Solution Roll cage (red), and a some Integy shock. Could that survive a 10ft drop like off a roof? That would be cool to jump on and off my roof!
Guessing how much runtime Im going to get. How many amps and watts is this system going to be putting out?
Ryan King,
thx

Thanks.
First if my MM cogs too much what is the next best Quark or MGM and which one?
Second 51t and 15 pinion. Will the gears mesh with a GMaxx tranny with the Neu 1515/f? If they will do you think that will run hot?

The MGM and Quark both have there weakness. The Quark can't run 6s even though it says it can, and it has overheating problems. But if you don't run 6s or plan to, it is a great choice if you can do the heat mod. I'll try to find the link for how to do it.
The MGM seems to have reverse/braking problems from what I hear. However if you don't use reverse or have it programmed, then it doesn't matter.
Which Neu are you talking about specifically? The one you have written in your signature would run great in an E-Maxx. I can't help with the gear meshing part as I don't have an e-maxx. Hope the previous info helped though.

Cool! I have the traxxas wheelie bar. But I heard you can run them one the flm skids!:( Mine will be A FLM Maxx one day. Will 43mph run to hot? Should I gear it to 40? I might start a micro rs4 drifter project.

I got the cups from Mike when I bought the dog bones so can't help you there but check out Brian's speed calculator for gearing options.

they fit in MIP cups if you have 6mm shaft (tranny) or Hot Bodies, HPI Savage cups if you have 8mm shaft (1/8 diff)

one more thing - 1/8 diffs cups are longer so you will need bit shorter dogbones. Mike will make them for you

It's too bad no one makes a CVD / adjustable slider hybrid. It would be nice to have the strengths of CVDs with the convenience of different lengths...
