Mtroniks info? - 05.01.2007, 12:51 AM

I was just looking around and found this www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/159227.asp

I have not seen to much info on the 120amp ESC? the Mtroniks website is useless anyone seen or used it yet? just curious to see what kind of motors the ESC will work with.:032:

I believe that the 120A rating is the peak current rating for that esc. It's constant current handling rating is 80A and the most it can handle is 4S. I would think that you'd be better off running a Mamba Max.

I used to own one that I used for a winter setup because they are waterproof, but I agree, the MM would be a better chioce for the money for a general setup.

Mtroniks is pretty basic technology. 120A peak, 80A constant is really not enough in my opinion.

The Mtroniks Truck is a great controller IMO. They have a large aluminum heatsink on the bottom that works great for keeping the ESC cool, and it can also be used to secure the ESC to a chassis and can sink its heat to the chassis. I've only burned up one Truck, and I got a replacement back for free two weeks after I sent it off (from California to England, and back).

Where is the 80amps continuous figure from? I would say the Mtroniks Truck heats up less than the MM does at a given voltage and current. However, the MM is definitely a better buy for the money.

MM, the specs are on the website. That's where I got them from anyway...or maybe it was from the link posted above. I know you've run a lot of stuff and the MM just isn't getting it in my heavier trucks. Do you think that the Truck esc might be better?

My above post was based on the published specs that I've seen on the Truck and Castle's statements that the MM will handle 100A constant. My Compro has to go back to the Czeh Rep., once I get it back from Mike, and I'd like to try a new controller in the mean time. I already had my LHS order me a Quark, but I'd like to find something else for my lighter vehicles. I'm moving away from the MM.

I'm just getting tired of waiting for the MMM and wondered if this ESC would be capable of running the Neu motor in my CRT conversion the 80amp 120amp peak thing is confusing so basicly it's a 80amp ESC.

I'm kinda stuck on spending the money on the Quark or waiting for the MMM it seems like everytime I go to order the Quark a post comes up saying the MMM is getting closer or I fried my Quark.:032:

The GENESIS TRUCK ESC is capable of an average discharge rate of 80A and a peak discharge rate of 120A...

If you don't want to wait, go ahead and get the Quark. At least you know what you're getting. I wish I had gotten a Quark, I'd have something to run with my 5S packs right now.

I'm not sure I would recommend using the Truck over the MM. The MM is an awesome ESC, and its features/programmability is easily twice that of the Truck. The Truck simply has more mass and surface are to dissipate heat with.
