I have a MM 5700 just running on a 6 cell pack, with around a 6 to 7 ratio. The tires came off the rims. Is there some glue that holds better than others or some kind of rims like the bead lock rims for the monster trucks for touring cars.
I have never seen touring cars use bead locks. It is used more on mt's or scale crawlers. What glue did you use? I usually use "CA glue" from my local hobby shop.
CA Glue or super glue tends to work fine. Guys run sedans around 80mph with just the glue holding...so you should be fine. It's likely the stock rubber and factory gluing job that is messing things up.
Nice to see another 4-tec, I had a brushless one a long time ago, however, after a failed custom chassis I gave up.
I went ahead and super glued them, holding fine. The things fast all I have done is ran it back and forth in a parking lot. It's hard to control, its a used chassis so I guess I need to overhaul it. Anothe thing is that the stick packs I'm using are getting so hot there melting the plastic on them, not sure if it's effecting the cells themselves yet, I havent opened one up. I plan on gettng some lipos but shouldn't 6cell NiMH hold up.
Sounds like a cheap stick pack with high resist cell tabs. You draw so much current they get hot and start to melt things. Side by side packs w/ batt bars would hold up, but lipo would be even better.
You can always cut the end of the pack where the end cap is. Cut it off and then pull the thin metal pieces that are on the end of the cells off. Then solder the wires directly to the cells.
