So it begins.... - 05.30.2007, 09:04 PM

Hello everyone.. this is my first post but i've been lurking and learning for a while now.. But today is a historic day into my travels in the world of BRUSHLESS. :004:

I have a Revo 3.3 with a picco .26 maxx in it but am tired of the tuning and problems of nitro...I want to play when i want to play..ya know! So any hoo i'm going to be stock piling parts for my project and i recieved my first part today!! Its a work of art!

Now for some questions. i have a Mamba maxx esc on the way.. should i pair it with a 8xl or 9xl?? i seen Finnster Revo and was amazed by it! very quick..exactly what i'm looking for.

Second question.. Using the stock revo Tranny.. Why do you have to lock it into second? sorry if its a silly question

I'm sure i'll have alot more questions..but thats it for now!!!

But i wanted to say thanks to Mike for the quick shipping... i live about 20 minutes form him which is real cool... i break alot of stuff LOL

Welcome to the forums!

You have to lock the tranny into second gear if you want to use the motor for braking and/or reverse. This is because of the OWB on first gear.

For more info on what your tranny options are, you might want to read this.

Yeah, the FOC removes mechanical reverse, but if you lock the tranny, you can still use the motor for reverse. So, it looks like you are going with option 3 from the link I posted?

BTW: I answered your PM over at the "other" forums...

I'd say go with the 9XL. It will treat the Mamba Max a bit better and you can make up for speed in gearing. I've tried the 7XL, 8XL, and 9XL in my trucks and like the 9XL the most for general purpose bashing and racing. It won't be the fastest setup, but it will be lightning quick with lots of torque. It'll make that Picco look like a toy in the low end department and won't be too shabby on the high end either.

I would go with the wanderer and mikes heat sink/ motor clamp. several have run the feiago's and the front of the can, can come apart. also that ubec will be fine.

Yea... Its called a G-Maxx G3R chassis:p

Kidding... I dont know fo any "pre-fab" battery trays made for the revo. You might be able to hack upa a Emaxx chassis and make a couple battery trays from that though.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
