E-CRT Finally Done - 05.07.2007, 01:47 PM

Ok guys, I've shown some prelims on this thing in my other thread, but it's fully finished now so I thought I would post some pics for you guys. Actually it's more for me since I'm so thrilled with it! :027: But hey, if you guys enjoy it - all the better! Take a look and let me know what you guys think.

Looks great! Very tidy, and I like the look of all that free space :). Is your battery tray u-channel with angle pieces at the end?

Your CRT looks great. One question though, how did you make the battery tray?

Hey guys, thanks! The battery tray was an idea I stole from someone here on the forums. Just can't remember who :002: I ended up modifying their design a little. Instead of velcro for the top support, I used CF and body pins.

Basically the tray is two pieces of 1"x1" angle from Graphite Elegance. You put the two together, and then use a smaller section of it at each end. Then I used two battery posts for the top strap of CF. The posts act like a fastening bolt for the screw through the bottom of the chassis. It ended up working perfectly. Hope that all makes sense:032:

A little confusing, but I think I understood it.

Very nice and clean layout. I like it. Thats Mike's motor mount, right?

Well, I try :005:

Sorry about the write up. You know how it is, you write something out like that and it seems to make sense in your head . . . but only to you. Anyway, maybe a close up with the battery out would help. I'll see if I can post one for you and anyone else so they don't have to read my technical write up!

Oh, and no, that's not Mike's motor mount. I made that out of a piece of U-chanel aluminum so that I could mount the fan. I cut out a lot of the U-channel and ended up sculptin a round portion out for the fan blades - it works great.

The Lehner I'm running is a 1940/10 hi-amp and it runs great with the MM. I can't compare it to the XL's since I've never had one. I can tell you this though . . . when I race it at our local track the motor gets up to about 115 and the speed control gets close to 130. That's all out racing until the 4350 goes dead - just under 20 minutes.

Here's the shots of the battery tray with no battery in it. Hope it's more clear.

Does your battery get warm at all. I've had trouble heat at the lipo with single pack conversions.

Nope. The lipo stays nice and cool. I'm using a Hyperion 4s 4350. What are you using?

In an older Ofna MBX basher, I've tried a few different packs. Flight Power 4s 3700 mAh, Poly RC 4s 3700, Kokam 4s 3200. I think in the future I will try higher mAh. It's fine until the last 15% of the pack. The newer packs may make a difference too.
