gearing question

Hi guys.. a simple question about gearing....


51 spur/14 pinion : 3.64
center diff : 1:1
front and rear Differential : 3:1

so, 3.64 x 3 = 10.92 ? seem pretty low (or high?!?) I have an 8xl on 12 gp3900.... and with a 12 tooth pinion = 12.75...

so right now I have between 10.92 an 12.75 final ratio... does is seem ok?

Sounds reasonable. I'm assuming a buggy??? If its a buggy the diff ratio is probably 3.308/1

What vehicle and how big are the tires. Tire size plays into the total gearing.

hi jhautz, yes it's an crono prima 1/8 buggy.. (italian compagnie)
The total tire size 4 1/4"...

I was just wondering cause I've seen some others thread talking about 20:1 ratio... but it depend on vehicule... :)

I typically run between a 9.5 and 12.5 gear ratio on my buggy. So what you have posted sounds good to me.
