Thumbs up I wanted to check my brushless calculations - 06.27.2007, 12:35 AM

i will be pushing a ALU maxx(125b, 1515 1y, external ubec, single speed, buggy diffs and cells nimah), and i wanted to see what application would be best for me. i will be going lipo in the future (4s) but i just want to get my truck running for now and i really don't want to screw up charging or allowing my lipo to go dead. so i will play it safe and cheap for now until i know/feel ready to go lipo. I was looking at these batteries. what do you guys think, i was looking for batteries under 130 for two packs but i want decent quality. do you think i will blow up(destroy) these batteris up on the setup i will be running. Here is my exported values for Brian's calculator.

Differential Ratio: 3.3076923076923075
Transmission Ratio: 1.7222222222222223
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 51
Pinion Tooth Count: 16
Total Voltage: 16.8
Motor KV: 2200
Tire Diameter (inches): 6.6
Tire Ballooning (inches): .25
Motor Current Draw: 30
Motor coil Ω: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3.19 : 1
Total Ratio: 18.15785 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 22.31 inches (566.55mm)
Total Motor Speed: 36960 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 42.99 MPH (69.06km/h)
Effective Speed Rate: 2.56mph/V (4.11kmh/V)
Effective KV Value: 2200

And a chart using an 18t pinion

i will be using my 125b controller and a RC monster heat sink. I do not mind if my quark runs hot i just want it to be able to make it for at least 30min without thermaling. i don't want to do the quark mod to fix heating issues for various reasons. will just the RCM heat sink make this possible or will i need fans or a different heat sink and which ones should i get. if you see anything wrong with my setup let me know thanks guys i appreciate the help.

For the voltage, you put 16.8v. This number is definitely too high for any calculations based on 4s Lipo (or is that for 14 cells?). What I usually do is put down 3.5v/cell for voltage and 30amps for the current (so that the resistance is factored into the kv).

Looks about rigt to me :). For track running I'd go with the 16t pinion, as 40mph is all you need (and want) on most tracks.

i was thinking the same think tracking would be 16t and for if for some reason this would not be enough speed (which i think i would be satisfied with it anyway) for bashing and speed runs i would switch to the 18t.
