New 15C 8000mah TrueRC packs are in, now std width! Who will try first?? - 09.10.2007, 12:30 PM

Linky

The newest TrueRc packs are in. :) These are a std width format of 45mm and are rated to 120A continous. They are a bit more expensive than the 10C packs @ $120ea or $230/pair, but are still quite abit less expensive than any other competitive pack. Given how good the 10C packs are (3.55V+/cell @ 120A) I am really curious to see what these are capable of.
They are also avail in 3S2P for $150 (+$5 for TRX plug) for the VXL crowd as well. (best deal)

Unfort they are about 20% heavier than the 8K 10C packs. The 10Cs still look like the best bang for buck lipos where the xtra width doesn't matter and current demands are absolutely huge. (possibly the 15C 6400 truerc packs tho)
Anyone got any plans to put these thru an Eagletree and see what they can do?

Since you know alot of the TrueRC packs..
Would the TrueRC 8Ah 10C be ok in a E-Revo with a 9XL ?
My FD 3700 mAh 20C pack does not deliver enough juice for the 9XL, it moves like an original E-Maxx with the FD pack :-( but with my Maxamps 8Ah packs it flies..
Can I expect the TrueRC 8Ah 10C packs to deliver the same power as my Maxamps 8Ah packs ?

Whether the TrueRc packs is enough for your application, depends on how much current your setup needs to draw.

If comparing the truerc directly to a maxamps pack, I would say that the Maxamps pack is a "better" pack in that it can deliver more current than the truerc pack.

On the other hand, I run a 5S2P 8Ah Truerc pack in my 8ight with a Quark Monster Pro and Neu 1515/2.5d geared at around 16/48 and the battery never breaks a sweat and the truck performs very well.

I've had a lot of TrueRC packs, they are very good for the money.

Great power for the price you can't complain. :)

Sure got that, the thing is that I was looking for was some kind of general idea if the TrueRc 8Ah 10C pack is "out of the question" or not for my Revo with a 9XL.
The FD pack (I got with the truck) was a HUGE disapointment and I dont want to go that route again...
I was kind of hoping that someone have used the TrueRC in a Revo with a 9XL (or similar) and can give their opinion.
I dont know alot about weights etc for trucks/cars to I myself cant say if your setup with an 8ight and Neu would be similar to my Revo.

I have a 4s2p 10C 8K pack that was a 5S pack until I tore it down as it was too much power w/ my 8XL.

They are very good batts, and generally underated. I was pulling over 3.5V/cell @ 120A. Several other here have had simular if not slighty higher #'s (mine are a year old.) They have been very durable and never get too warm (105F usually)
For the price they are really hard to beat. IMO if you are consistantly pulling more current than that, you are most likely getting a hot motor as well and should think about a higher voltage setup instead.

Will it be the same as a MA 8K pack? The #'s i've seen are close, but I don't have a MA pack to directly compare to. I don't think it would be too far behind. It is certainly up to the job and I really like the pack I have, however I liked the 4S 6400 15C TrueRC pack a little better. I would buy either again, esp for $150ish.
How much better is the 15C 8K pack, and how close to a MA pack? That's what I want to know, but if it tracks like their other batts, it should be really good.

Both my vids in my sig are on the TRC packs. the 5s is the 8k pack pre-tear down on v1 ERevo, and the 4S is the 6400 pack on my v2 Revo. Either pack would give great performance. I'd pocket the savings towards a Neu rather than a slightly nicer batt.

It seems like the new packs would just be to tall...

He does a great selection and builds them too, wouldn't be hard to find what you need.

My only moan is: why the pink shrinkwrap?

hmm. they are maybe only 45mm wide but they are taller. i already have problem fitting 2S pack on the motor side as i have a special tray on my FLM chassis to protect my precious lipo.

I am very happy with my 10C packs as they dont break a sweat in my maxx. (3.7V@110A)
