i drove it last night and i'm impressed. the only thing i don't like is the way the mgm likes to brake hard if you are smooth letting off the throttle. i have to let off all at once to keep it from braking. this is a truck i had built specifically for racing and with the controller slamming on the brakes when i let off the throttle it will be hard to race it!

Hmm, that sucks, that MGM behaviour you described. I never messed with MGM, to tell you the truth, but there must be a parameter or something to change this. It should somehow be able to freewheel when you release the throttle smooth.
The way you decribed it I could not drive it, it would be horrible with my driving style like that, I need to coast and get on the gas again. It needs to brake when I brake... but I heard about this before: unless you release the trigger quick, the rpm always is where your trigger is. Might be good for planes, who knows.

Maybe someone with MGM experience can chime in. I am surprised Mike hasn't changed the setting, if there is any.

My MGM does the same thing. I havent looked at programming changes yet....since I fried my UBEC, and havent put it back on the road again yet.

You need to turn on the freewheel option and turn off the drag brake option. Mine did the same thing when I first set it up. Make these changes and it will drive just like the other controllers you are used to. Another recommendation I would make is to set it to CAR forward only. The reverse brake thing is still a little funky on these controllers even though it is worlds better than it used to be.

Sweet truck by the way. You should be able to win a few races with that instrument.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Wow, very nice!! So, can anyone tell me why they would go with the XT8 instead of a Losi 8ight-T? I'm going to do a new build over the winter and I don't know much about the XT8. Sure does look nice though.

wow! i talked with mike today and we got the "mgm issues" sorted out. i tried all the things jhautz mentioned last night, with no luck. you have to program everything like you want, turn the controller off, then turn it back on and enter program mode and then go to auto program and then drive the car around making sure to hit the full throttle and brake ranges throughout the drive. done! works great now! thanks for the comments guys. this thing drives great, had all my nitro buddies worried.

Great conversion, is it heavy? I think this is the next item on my wishlist

its a little overweight for a truggy, but that is something mike had to sacrifice to make this truggy what it is. i'm sure you're enjoying that savage. very nice truck!
