It will probably cog. The MM's don't like the Neus.

I used a MM and a Neu. I hated the cogging but you can minimize it. In th computer set up for the throttle pull it down at about the 30% mark so that it becomes a smooth curve. This helps but if you want smooth running use the MGM. My 1515/1y 2200kv handles 4s easily. Here are some settings:
settings are:
brake 30%
punch 80%
start pwr low
drag brake disabled
motor timing low

The MGM or Quark will run the Neu with no coging. Smooth as silk. I still like the way the Quark feels better when driving it, but the MGM runs cool as a stone. I havent been able to heat one up past 120 no matter what I do.

Either will be a solid chioce with the Neu.

That's weird, usually increasing start power helps the cogging. Higher punch control is understandable though. IMO, adjusting these settings is just a "bandaid" and the MM shouldn't be used with slotted stator motors until the elusive fix is released.

It usually doesn't need it right out of the box. The heat sink does the job, but over time the thermal tape on the inside will loosen and then you will need to do the mod. Kinda sucks for $280... But its still the smoothest least quirky controller out there (EDIT: Up tp 5s)... But for the most part I have my Quarks on the shelf and am running the MGMs now. Just cuz of the heat issues.

Depends who you talk to. Some people are OK with temps in the 150*F+. I like my electronics to run cool, so the mod coupled with a little extra heatsinking helps keeps temps much lower, not to mention faster/more efficient heat transfer from the FETs to the case.

(Edit: my post was in response to mach1stang, but jhautz typed too fast )

Thanks for pointing that out. This was my inital settings. Later attempts even with high start power mine Neu cogged.

so the quark is good but has a bit of heat to it, and the mgm runs cool, but has a funny feel to it?

If you get the settings right on the MGM, people say its the best of the best.
