I'm not positive but I believe the Tekno conversion sits too far back to run a mod1 pinion without an extender. Why not just use the clutch? I've seen the setup work really well in their Revo as well as an 1/8 scale buggy. It might be worth trying it out first before going to a direct drive setup.

Welcome to RC-M, wheeldean!

From the looks of it, a standard mod1 pinion won't work, because a clutch bell is longer than the pinions. So, to get a mod1 pinion on there, it'd have to be very long but I can't say I've seen one long enough. To me it appears the RC-Monster motor mount for the Revo would be a better choice for no-clutch bell use.

Thanks guys. I plan on using the clutch bell because it comes with kit and I already have it ordered. I was just being curious.

try this - under shop, car, pinion

http://www.motormega.com/

LONG SHANK

Losi 8ight buggies and trucks require a longer shank to keep motor clear of center differential and reach the spur gear. Mega Steel Mod1 LS pinions have a .270" gear face and .650" shank length for the longer reach necessary when the motor is mounted at the opposite end of the vehicle from the spur gear with reference to the center differential. Two 4X4 mm set screws with 2mm head are used. Fit 5mm motor shaft

Hello,

Matthew is correct, the mount sits farther back and mod1 pinions can't be used. However, you could probably use some spacers and longer screws to set the motor forward enough to use one of the long shank pinions, but it isn't recommended as it may weaken the mount.

We've had no clearance issues with the 1515 motors. You can run a Feigao XXL can as well.

Good to ear, but the only thing that i don't like on you motor mount, is they don't have any rear support for the motor.
Did you plan on a rear support on a futur version or leave it like that?

Presently i've the RCM revo motor mount on my revo, with a Neu1515 1Y/f motor, and i like the fact that i've a rear suupport for the motor.
I've think to buy teh Teckno kit to try it (because i like the fact that i can use the stock clutchbell on it) but the lake of rear support is an element why i hesitate.
One of my friend have lost the front bell of his Feigao motor because his motor mount don't have any rear support.

If you tell me that you can have a rear support, i'll certainly buy one.

There is no rear support on our mount. Our year of testing showed it wasn't necessary even with a 1515/F motor. If using a Neu or Feigao motor, you are able to secure it with 4 screws (use thread locking compound).
