Mod1 on E-Revo - 05.14.2008, 08:23 PM

Hello,

I realize the new E-Revo isn't shipping yet so there are a lot of unknowns but I wonder if any of you can speculate given that the tranny is just like the new E-Maxx tranny...

Years ago when I moved up from the 32p spur of the old-school E-Maxx to an E-Truggy with it's beefy Mod1 spur I said I'd never go back to 32p...well, can a Mod1 be used on the new E-Revo? I realize that the Revo spur may fit but I don't know if the motor will reach that small a spur...

Does anyone know? Thanks,

I'm sure we'll be able to find Mod1 spurs to fit. We'll just have to wait till it comes out and see what works.

3905 e-maxx is 32 pitch, 40t / 16t mod1 was way off on the 3905 tranny with a finned 7xl.

Way off as in too fast?

Was there enough room to reach the spur with a smaller pinion?

Thanks,

The tranny will be mod1, But the spur will be 32 pitch. I don't think the titans can push through a mod 1 setup on pinion and spur. I'm sure there will be special mod1 spurs from traxxas, if they see a need for it. Besides there are aftermarket sources for revo parts, like Integy, GH and Hot racing, that might look into a mod1 specific spurs

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I am sure that the stock spur will be 32p on the e-revo. The titans have 1/8" shafts, and traxxas already have a bunch of 1/8" bore 32p pinions. I am sure the modded mgt spurs will fit the e-revo, they fit the new emaxx just fine. They are mod1 and plenty strong. No one really makes much in the way of 1/8" bore mod1 pinions, but you could use a bore reducer to do that. Not much point, as high powered motors usually break the 1/8" shafts, hence why most are 5mm.

I am hoping the revo spur will fit. I just ordered the e-revo and really dont want to have to buy more pinions again. Already have a lot of 5mm mod1 gears and hope to use those.

Interesting that chassis is only 28 + 5 for battery doors + 10 for transmission guard...

With e-tailer discounts you should be able to convert for about $40!!!

I'm sure the Revo spurs will fit, the concern I have is, will the Motor reach that much smaller spur?

I think it will definetly limit your gearing. If you are going with a low kv motor and 6s I think you would be fine. With a hot motor and 4s I think we will have to run the 32p gears or hope traxxas makes a bigger mod 1 gear.

the pinion won't reach a mod1 revo spur. MGT spurs are mod1 and are easily modified to fit, I ran a 49/13 ratio but wound up going back to the 32p because of the lack of options in mod1 that fit. The biggest MGT spur is 52t. 32p has been holding up for me running an 8xl on 4S, I think the weakest point is the user's ability to set the mesh properly. I'm having good luck with the 32p and there are a lot of spur options but if they wind up making bigger mod1 spurs that fit I'll def jump on it, for now its 32p though

This was all done on a 3905 E-MAXX
