Panther Komodo LP tires - 09.05.2007, 04:09 PM

I've got these tires, but am finding they aren't mounting on rims since the foam is too thick. I plan on trimming the foam, but wondering if anyone else has done this? If so, can you let me know how much you trimmed them by?

Thanks!

Chris

Perhaps try some molded foams.

Chris they are a pain in the butt to mout, I found the best way for me was to not trim the foam & use elctrical tape to hold the tire to the rim, you have to pull the tpae fairly tight.

I too considered using tape to mount them but the foam was to thick to provide the low profice they are supposed to have so i trimmed the foam with a blade. Removed about 1/3 of foam thickness. much nicer look and I think if you dont trim the foam they will be a lot more wooble cause the foam is to compressed inside... that the number one reason I trimmed mine.

I've mount these tire on Ofna half offset wheel and yes it's a pain to mount. But i've not trim the foam, i've let it stock. When it's done, and you ride it for first time, the foam take his place and all it's OK.

But it's very hard to make a good looking job with these tires.

Good luck and on a 1/8 scale buggy, it's a blast to drive with them

it's not hard if you trim the foam, look at the picture of my tire, it does a really nice job, I wish I had a picture when I didn't trim the foam, sure looked wrong. + I dont think the tire is going to ride good if you keep the foam that is meant for 5.5in tires when this komodo is supposed to be low profile. with the stock foam it isn't very low profile, more like botch ballon profile! lol anyway I still say it's worth the 5 minutes or work.
