Sparking on connecting batteries to ESC - 11.17.2008, 08:31 AM

Hello Members,

just like to know if its normal for my connectors to spark on connecting them to the ESC...? makes a hell of a light show and those around you that dont know panic when they see it. so i am putting it out there... you guys get this all the time?

Not only is it completely normal, but attempts to attenuate it may lead to premature controller failure. Enjoy the light show and watch the nitro guys pee their pants when you plug your rig in!

bradleyk123- I saw somewhere that you should not do that with the MMM controller.

Yeah you don't, Patrick himself has said doing that will mess up any Castle controller I think, not just the MMM. However, I have not seen the light show yet since I've installed FW 1.20. Maybe it's because the batteries were < 12v when I tried it, I dunno.

I say don't worry about it.

1) It's cool!
2) It doesn't hurt anything except the connectors which are easily replaced when they finally wear out.
3) Add some more caps! The bigger the spark, the more your competition will fear you!!!
