mm 7700 e maxx - 01.14.2008, 11:16 AM

I have a e maxx with the 7700 mamba max motor and esc and it works fine. I have never thermaled and have never have any heat problems.
i am currently running a 9t with a 72t spur. i use a 3s a123. I dont know exact speeds but its fast and i can flip it over with the wheelie bar. oh and i have no cogging.

Thats a miracle, but seeing as you are running 9/72 and only 10.2v that would explain it. The MM motors are way too small normally, but gearing down a ton like you have will help no end. If you really wanna have some proper fun, ditch the 7700 in favour of an 8Xl or 10L feigao, and run 5s A123, with the BEC disabled (remove red wire from rx lead), and use the CC UBEC or an RX pack to power the RX. That will get you moving at closer to 40mph with tons of torque. Got any pics/video of your rig?

I thought the mamba motors had a 50k rpm limit? The 7700 running on 3s a123 would be pushing 80k rpm... that's going to be really stressing the motor and bearings.

They are good for 72k... Castle say 5700 on 3s lipo (4.2v) is ok...

Under a load those a123 cells easily drop down to 2.5-2.8 volts anyway so figure 7.5-8.4volts total.

castle tests them up to 80,000, they are tough little motors, just little. I ran my 7700 on 12 cells and it was nuts, but it was way to hot to touch, even after hard bashing on 7 cells it was too hot to touch, and it was in a bone stock rustler, 86' camaro must drive real slow downhill

just the opposite i run it full bore with the highest timing and i ran it 20min strait and could easily hold the motor and esc and the batteries are still cold.
maybe im just lucky.
but before i did have it in my rustler but i keep breaking the planetary gears so i got a e maxx roller for 80 bucks.

You sure it is a 7700? The 7700 on high timing will get hot just looking at it.

well just cause your 16 doesnt mean much. you can get the 8xl for 80 bucks. if you are working then you should be able to afford that after a month or so.

anyways.

johnny that made me laugh. (it gets hot just looking at it.)
