Heres a pic of a used 8xl motor I got. The leads look a little short, are they OK? I've heard they need to stay a certain length but can I just clean the ends and solder on bullet connectors or is there something speciel I need to do.
The motor leads are just the windings of the motor extended out the back of the can for you to solder your connection. The reason you dont want to shorten them is the ends of those leads have the special insulation stripped off of them. The only way to know if they are to short or not is to try soldering a connector onto them and see if you get it to bond well or not. If they are to short its tough to strip the insulation. I think the factories do it with some kind of acid I think I remember reading.
If your lucky theres still some of the stripped wire section left on the end of the leads.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
