MambaMaxx Old Edition on a Zippy 5s - 02.08.2008, 12:45 AM

alright so i have to get this straight. i have read all the threads and i still need a little advice. i have a MM with the older style FETs. anyone think a 5000mah 5s1p zippy would be a bad idea. its for a 1/8 buggy with a 8xl. i am a basher so im just looking for it to be all around fun not neccessarily insane. i just want to order the pack already. i would get a 4s but they are out, plus i have heard a lot of great things performance wise about 5s. yey or ney. thanks

Running the MM on 5s requires more care than running it on 4s. Improper gearing can eaily overload it on 5s. But other than that I dont see any reason why not. I run my buggy with a MM on 5s all the time when not on the track.

Just watch your ESC heats carfully untill you are comfotable that you have it geared correctly and you arent overloading the esc.

The 8xl might be a little bit hot of a motor to run on 5s consistanly on the MM. IMO you would would probably have more sucess with a 9xl or even a 10xl on 5s. It would keep the heat down on both the motor and the MM and still have plenty of power. I ran my cen buggy on 5s and a 10xl and was able to walk on the local nitro bashers with modified Novarossi 28s in their buggies, so there will be plenty of speed and power.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I got away with a 7xl on 5s, but that was in february and temps were in the 50's. when it warmed up it did get quite hot

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
