E-Maxx Brushless Motors - 01.24.2008, 02:38 PM

Hello,

I want to make my new E-Maxx brushless. I'm already using a 4S2P lipo pack and plan on using a Mamba Max ESC. What i'm wondering is, would the Ammo 36-56-2600 make a good brushless for my E-Maxx and if yes, does that motor run well with a MM esc?

Also, thought about a Feigao 9XL, would that be a better motor to go with?

I would go with a Feigao 7 or 8XL. 7 for speed, 8 for runtime.

Thanks Squeee.

I'm not looking for much higher speed than I already have, using the Titans with 4S. I just like brushless motors much more then brushed and I want better efficiency for longer runtime.

So, the Ammo is a no go then.

I've heard there a rather low quality, even compared to the Feigaos. I would just get a 8XL since your looking for more runtime and such.

If you are looking for the same speed as with the twin titan motors, i would got for a 9XL or such. the 8XL is quite a performer, and will be seriously faster than the standard titans.

Go with the 9xl. I don't get how people can get the full potential out of the 7 and 8xls through the tiny mamba max. During the short period of time I had my 8xl, my mm easily reached 190 degrees within the first 5 minutes of running geared for 45+ mph in a 8lb buggy and almost cant handle the 9L geared to go about 40. However, I've never tried a fan on the mamba max which should help a lot.

yeah, a fan really helps, and adding capacitors to the power leads seem to help as well, according to Aangel his experience.

Like I said, I would go with the 8XL. If geared right, it won't pose a problem with heat. I would simply choose a motor that would be appropriate for the voltage, regardless of the speed. If its to fast, turn down the EPA.

So it sounds like either the 8xl or 9xl will work good.

Are you guys using a CC BEC with this system?

Still need help with what pinion to use.

8xl is the best bet, I run 24t pinion, and range from 68t spurs to 54t depending on desired speed. I run a set of 2s2p 6k lipo's (4s) with my mamba max controller w/ castle BEC. I will note I never really get this opened up to full top speed on this video either. But you can wheelie the entire length of the road if you want..

Ammo works ok. Quality is close to feigao, and it pulls the emaxx around with no problems. You just have to watch for the front endbell coming off just as with the feigao cans. Been using one for several months without trouble until the front endbell came off and trashed the rotor.
