Feigao windings broken

So I posted another thread a week or two ago about shortening windings on a feigao motor. I was suggested to try to bend them slightly if necessary. Well, I just attempted to bend them a few degrees and one of the 3 literally snapped. So now two of them are full length while the other is about an inch shorter than normal.

So what would you guys suggest I do?

Dang! Never seen that before.

Unfortunatly the only real sugestion I would have is to get a new motor. Not sure if there is good way to fix that. I know its not a good sugestion.

Maybe somone around here will have a possible fix.

Would there be any danger in trying the motor? I know it probably won't work or it will run terribly but is there any danger in trying?

If you are only connected to 2 of the 3 wires it will not run, only cog badly. I dont think you will damage the motor any worse, but if the cogging is bad you could possibly do something to your ESC. If you are carefull and dont push it if it doesnt run well then you will probablly be OK

Wow, I feel stupid.

Apparently a long time ago I soldered on little 1" extensions of Deans 12awg to the windings and heatshrinked over them because the 3.5mm bullets wouldn't fit over the ends of the windings. The solder wicked up the short extensions making them very hard. When I tried to bend these it broke at the solder joint at the END of the winding.. meaning #1 my windings are in tact and #2 I'm stupid.

Yeah, that would do it. Several strands of wire can bend, but if soldered together, it is effectively one large wire and won't bend easily withough breaking. I believe I was one of those who suggested bending them, and for that I'm sorry.

I would not try it as is. If you know it's broken, there's no sense in damaging an ESC. Believe me, all three wires are necessary.

It is possible to fix it, just carefully open them up and take insulation from each string of wire (broken lead) and carefully tin it with solder, then twist them together and solder them again as a group.
You can use mechanical or chemical ways of taking insulation from individual strings.
Be careful with mechanical, try to avoid braking leads further, while with chemical keep your area well ventilated.
