Losi 1/36 MT? - 01.28.2008, 01:08 AM

I can't believe the same company that made the 8T is being made to sell these
http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB0235 I'm sorry, but i respected Losi till they started rehashing this stuff. Horizion is single-handedly destroying a great race house in the rc community. Sorry for the rant, Just hate to see whats happening. I can see why Gil Jr left

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

now thats just sad. i thought they learned their lesson when their all-around sales dropped 1.3% after the release of the 1/8 and 1/18 raminator. guess not.
losi, if you're se desperate for a new release, make a crawler or a E-8ight, something we could all sink our teeth into.

Dude, check out the stickers, Its got a Hemi!

Wow, what an interesting truck. Guess it will help get people into the hobby.

Guess that this shows the difference between losi sport and Team Losi.

why even bother wth this?

the micro t or desert truck OR micro buggy is 10x better than this

maybe people who like the ramminator series trucks will get it?
idk.

pointless to me.

The LHS sells a bunch of the micro t trucks and the desert thingys too. They are fun to play with indoors, especially if it is raining. Can't justify spending 80 bucks myself, could get a xl motor for that. Speaking of that I just bought a 14xl from ose. Can you say HV tranny forward savage? (I thought so!)

it is a shame that losi isnt all racing anymore i think the 1/18th scale stuff is junk but i have a soft spot for these micros, they are a blast and way tougher than anything else under 1/10 scale. so i kinda look at it like atleast its not another mlst or lst version.

Personally I can't wait till they bring out a mlst based touring car. Just put some foam tires and a sportwerks recoil body on it and there you go! Instant sales success! They would go like hotcakes, maybe even start the revival of electric touring car racing! I am so excited!

lol... a mlst based touring car. It could be like the wheelyking that won the MT class of the 2007 speed challenge. Although I would never buy one, you got to give it to losi for trying to expand their target demographic.

Now I'm no engineer, so I can't explain the workings of most machines, but business I can do. Like most larger r/c companies, Losi is attempting to introduce "hobby grade" r/c to a broader market. They did the same thing with the mini-t a few years ago. The purpose of this truck is to get fresh blood into the r/c world (like a lot of their other stuff now days). Newbies will buy this truck, then yearn for more.... which leads to repeat sales. As the new hobbyist learns more about r/c, he or she will usually step up to a higher level model and so on.

Now we all know that not everyone likes r/c as much as we do, so at this point it becomes a numbers game. Lets assume that 1 out of 100 people who try an r/c actually take up the hobby. The more people they can expose to the hobby, the greater their chances are at hooking someone for life. This will lead to increased sales of their high end equipment like the 8ight.... in theory.

Other high-end companies owe their existence to large firms like Losi, Kyosho, Tamiya, and Associated. Without their "sport" level equipment to bring in new customers, "race" level companies can not stay profitable. Sad enough as it is... chances are you won't live forever.

Take rc-monster for example. Everyone here started somewhere. What was your very first r/c purchase? Was it a $1000+ electric 1/8th truggy? I think not. It was probably more like a low to mid-level Losi, Tamiya, Kyosho, or Associated. You can admit it... mine was a tamiya grasshopper. Of course there were nicer cars/trucks available back in the day too, but for my first purchase, I was NOT going to buy a race quality car. What if I didn't like it? What if r/c wasn't my thing?

Solution: buy a cheap entry level car that won't break the bank if I decide it isn't my thing.

So keep this in mind when a large company comes out with another "toy" like truck. Its not that their quality standards have gone down... Its because your standards have gone up. We are the 1 out of 100 people who decided to take things to the next level... and beyond.

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

Mine was a pede -> Rustler -> Revo -> Mambaified Rustler/Pede -> FLM Rustler -> Mambafied Detta -> EREVO -> micro-T -> e-X1CR -> e-MX5T e-CRT.5

So I'm a buyer of escalation purchasing... It works

Same with cars - Started with a A4 and now have a TT3.2 and Q7!

I'm a marketing guys wet dream!
