lst2 bl conversion -
07.23.2008, 03:20 AM
hi guys i have a bl revo that has cost me a fortune but not really that impressed with it
so im looking to convert one of my nitro cars i have a lst2 and a muggy i was wondering wich one you guys would recomend
i do like my lst alot more than the muggy so im leaning more towards that but does any one do a conversion kit
.ie. motor mount
i have found the bits that mike does like the 2 speed pinion addapter and the battery tray but no motor mount
can anyone point me in the right direction please
i see mike has the motor mount for the muggy so im thinking that this would be a a simpler conversion but not to sure if i want to convert this as i do like the lst the most
i have found fine design conversion but have heard lots of bad reports about the service and quality so i would rather not go down that road
any help would be much appriciated

Do the conversion to the LST2 since you like it the most.
Maybe the motor mount for the Muggy will fit the LST2? They're both Losi's.
I think you should ask Mike for a LST2 motormount.
The name is Alawi. You can call me Al.
Nice to meet you!

The motor mount for the Muggy will not fit the LST2; Muggy has center diff, LST2 has transmission (and it is mounted sideways).

I think it would be fairly easy to fab your own motor mount for the lst2 with an pieces of angle aluminum. You could then use mikes pinion adapter and the nitro motor mounts for adjusting the mesh. Your other option is a direct to diff outrunner which desmo has done on here.
Just curious what about the revo setup you don't like though? What are you running in it?

I'm doing my LST2, but, still haven't gotten around to going to the milling guy to mill my mount. I've got the metal & the design all ready to go.
Just no motivation. Still converting my CRT & MP 7.5 at the same time, plus, being sick makes things a little more challenging.
Have fried a Mamba Monster V1 in my truggy & the Quark SSB MkIII couldn't cope with the weight of the BLST & also went bye byes. Had it replaced for free as the guy recommended it to me for it. Have since put that in my buggy.
Waiting on CC to send back my repaired MM V1 & have ordered another 5 V2's for me & a few other guy's that have yet to be sent.

I forgot about these motor mounts as well. Linc has one and I think they would work well for an lst2.

I never actually thought of using one of those mounts.
It may work quite well, but, would need a definite confirmation from either Mike or someone that's already using one.

I did a Muggy already (made my own motor mount). It is a blast to drive and very fast (see my sig for build thread).
I am also working on an LST2 conversion. I didn't like the layout with the transmission; doesn't give you much room for batteries. I have seen a couple on here that have used an emaxx tranny to put it in the center with batts down either side. This looks like a better layout to me, but may require a custom upper deck. I had an extra center diff for the Muggy and will be using that along with front and rear Muggy diffs (closer to truggy ratio than LST2 diffs). I will likely do custom top and bottom chassis plates (maybe CF).

I have an aftershock to convert, and planned running a kb 45 10xl motor on 8s lipo. Was going to move the brake servo next to the tranny, and make a pair of battery trays. One would be between the steering servos and the tranny, and the other would be where the fuel tank usually is. Going to use a hv85 esc, so the mech brakes and the 2 speed will stay. I like the idea of the lst mech high and low gear tranny internals, I may swap that in...

I've recently started an LST2 conversion too and am considering the fabrication of a motor mount. I'd rather wait on one thats already fabbed but may not be available by my next race. It's being made by "TheDude" (TDR Racing)on LSTForums: http://lstforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=12549
The Latest posts indicate he has sent the proto's out for testing and final mod. suggestions; I'm guessing it'll be a month or two before his production units are available. I've already got one of his Single Speed Hubs coming:
http://lstforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11130
I'll be running it with a FOC with "swap mod", a 59T TiNi Losi spur, a 25T pinion from Mike and my MMM/1515/1y combo. Calcs out at just over 35mph on Brian's speed calc. I'm hopin' to be Smokin' Revos with it in the near future.
I considered trying to use the Tekno mount but I think spacing, pinion adjustment, and the Tranny mount may cause more issues than I want to deal with.

I converted an aftershock to brushless. I am using the FD motor mounts, however, I will never deal with them ever again. They sent me two different sized mounts, wouldn't return phone calls or email, so I've had to make a shim using some cardboard to run the mounts, and there is no way to adjust for using different sized pinions, even if you have the same sized mounts.
If you can, wait for the mount that Chapito talked about. I've dealt with "The Dude", running his single speed spur adapter and pinion mount, top quality work and great customer service. If chapito's links don't work go to hdrcvideos.com and look under the custom conversion project area section, same site, lstforums, but that's an old link chapito put up.

I had been debating the tekno mount for the LST2. I was waiting for the 40mm mount to be available, but they dont sell the adjustable motor mount plate option, so it wouldn't it be just another unadjustable stationary mount. ?
Note: Tekno RC V3 Motor Mount Plates (TKR40002, TKR40002A) not included and are not required. Your application may vary and the motor mount plates may make it easier to adjust gear mesh.
