You should use an external BEC with that voltage.

As long as you run a UBEC or external Rx pack you should be fine. You should be using one at 12 cells anyway.

Just monitor the MM temps and adjust the gearing down if it starts getting to hot. Some of the newer MMs will not run the higher cell counts. They just dont start up. If yours doesnt start then you have an newer one. Then there isn't much you can do as far as I know. There may be something to running it without the LVC activated to allow it to run the higher voltages but Im not sure about that. Since you are running NiMH that shouldnt be a problem fpr you to do if it works.

thanks for the fast reply guys,i am running a castle bec so thats covered,i will try 14 cells today or tomorrow and see what happens,i did read somewhere that with the new firmware i would be able to use 14 cells,we will see,the reason im wasting time with the nimh is that i have a few packs hanging around, after that last run with 13 cells the batteries did get hot, like 150 is that ok

Sounds like you are pushing them pretty hard. 150 is pretty hot. I would watch the gearing. Maybe go down a couple teeth so you draw less juice from the packs. They wont last very long with temps like that IMO.

Good to hear it works with 13 cells, but 14 cells would make alot of people very happy if it works.

it worked with 14 cells, but batteries were 170 degrees, everything else was fine, these are cheap venom batteries and they didnt have that lipo punch but the truck was going pretty fast with the 14 cells, maybe 40 maybe more, but yes the mamba was fine no problems, maybe it was that new firmware

Cool! Good to hear it worked for ya. Those Venom packs will get hot though; they're fairly cheap cells and are only spot-welded together too, IIRC...so that alone will generate a lot of heat and resistance. Short of LiPo, some really decent quality NiMH packs with soldered cells will make quite a difference in performance and run cooler too.

SWEET! I've always wanted to run a 7 or 8 XL Feiago + a mamba esc...but I wanted to run 14 cells. Now I finally know which route to go with my E-Revo

I run 14 3300 cells and with a external reciever pack and everythig works okay. but with 22tooth pinion and 68 spur on an emaxx it will thermal the esc after a while of hard bashing. Keep in mind this is with no external coolers. motor will get up to 160+ and the batts get up there too. soo its def. pushing everthing to the maxx.
