Couple of Extended CRT.5 questions - 02.07.2008, 07:01 PM

I'm going with the extended chassis set for my CRT.5 project and have a couple of questions.

I've seen some of the other .5's on here but wanted to see if some of you guys had specific comments.......

Which bodyshell is best suited to the extended Chassis? Or will the stock body work ok with new holes?

Which is the accepted wheel/tire combo for this setup? Track is a fast smooth type with loose surface dust/sand...

Thanks for any pointers

Marcus

I run the jato rear victory 2.8 all round or anacondas - Others do the traxxas 2.8 rims with 30series prolines but glueing looks like a pain...

2.2's are a bit small IMO

2.2 truck wheels with full offset (like many of the HPI wheels for the MT2, Wheely King, and Firestorm) are what I use, along with 2.2 truck tires (Holeshots for the track, Road Rages for street, and HPU Yokohomga Geolandars for all terrain). If your track has a looser surface, you might have better luck with Bow Ties.

Body choices are a bit off, standard 1/10 bodies tend to be a bit long, and IMO the stock body just doesn't look right. Mine is currently running a cut-up Crowd Pleaser for the Nitro Rustler (it was laying around my garage).

For bodies I've been cutting off the back end of 10th scale trucks right behind the shock tower bulges. The one that fit best was my old XXX-T body. The old style one, not the MF2.

I tried to make the stock body fit, and it would barely, but the steering servo and lipo battery were pretty exposed.

I keep thinking there is some odd sized mini-monster truck that may work, but it's hard to find body measurements except for on towerhobbies.com.

The Ofna extended is 15mm longer than the original chassis, but the RCM extened is 40mm longer than the original.

Sorry. I guess I should have mentioned that, it's the RC Monster one. I assumed that given we're on their site and in the absence of other info that would be a gimme.

Can someone tell me what the wheelbase of the rcm ext chassis is in mm? Going off the info above and Tower's specs, the wheelbase should be 225mm + 40mm = 265mm. Can anyone confirm this for me?

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

rcm xt8
rcm xb8
rcm crt.5

267 to 268 is what I'm getting center to center of the wheels. Problably 265 with the rear hubs mounted in the forward position.

Let us know if you find a good body for this. Something about 6" wide and with a 10.5" wheel base would be great.
