bought a servo at the lhs and it was used. - 02.10.2008, 10:25 PM

i picked up a hitec hs5645mg and when i got home and opened it, there was dirt on it and i tried it out and it didn't work. i called them up and he told me to bring it back. when i got there, he didn't have any more. he said one of his workers probably put a return back in the case which was sold to me. we looked and looked for something compairible to switch it out with that he had instock. problem was that futuba and jr cost alot more per power rating so it took a while. finially he said he would just let me get the jr ds8411. its simular torque. is this a good servo? i noticed when i looked at amain, its the same price as their super torque servos, thez9100t, so i'm kind of bummed he didn't have any of those in. long story short, i got a $114 servo for $54 at the lhs. except i live about 45min away so add the cost of fuel.

oh no, sorry i'm fighting a tooth infection and i'm on some pain pills. i'm not mad at all. i am surprised he upgraded me to a product that sells for twice what i paid. great job keeping the customer happy. i was going to pay the difference but he offered so i took. my main reason for posting this was to see if anybody knows anything about this servo. i see that its an fet servo and supposed to have superior centering and very precise. i don't know if its the right servo though. i'm planning on putting it on my emaxx. i was upgrading to digital servos to use my fasst radio gear in fast mode.

so does anybody know if its a good servo for an emaxx?

How heavy is your emaxx, and what tires? I found one HS645mg to be far too weak, but then again when you look at my truck.... I dunno- plug it in and give it a whirl as they say.

you got those giant meats for tires too though don't you? its heavy, maybe 15lbs. heres a pic

the 645 is weaker than this servo, i'm pretty sure. i had a jr650 on there. it seemed a little soft, but i think some of that is my servo saver being too weak. i heard some people put a little ca glue on the saver to make it hold better, but it'll still break loose with a strong impact. i may give that a try. its a kimbrogh(sp?).

i also just noticed that this servo is a ds8411sa servo and has some plastic gears. i wonder if i strip them if i can just upgrade to the ds8411 replacement metal gears.
