i realize it would take some fabbing for batt and motor and esc mounts, but this thing is HUGE! maybe i should get a set of savage axles off of ebay. maybe a mega 22/45/2 and a sentilon 100a esc on 10s to 12s? maybe the zippy-r packs? what do you guys think?

Go with the flm kit, much better IMO, plus it has the motor mount and battery tray already setup. I would post some pics, but I am waiting till I get it complete

I can fit 5s 8000mah truerc pack in mine. They are made from 4000mah cells in a 5s2p configuration. So you should be able to fit 10s 4000mah.
Dont get me wrong... Its a tight squeeze, but they do fit nicely.

I would buy a pair of 5s packs and run them in series. Maybe some flightpower lipos, like the 3700 cells.

I don't think you will find a whole lot of options on factory built 10s packs. You will probably be better off going with 2x 5s packs wired in series. You could just put another layer of heatshrink over the 2 packs to tie them together and you can handle them like 1 pack.

ANother thing to think about is charging a 10s pack. There arent alot of chargers out there that charge 10s well. 2x 5s packs might be asier to handle in this regard also.

EDIT: Pimp is a faster tyepr then me.....

Just an input to the NEM chassis conversion.

A major change should be also applied to the spur gear.

The Mod1 spur gears used in the Savage will not tolerate the force used to move a Savage that's 5" longer than the normal truck.

I believe the spur will get stripped under pressure in a very short while.

Nice to meet you!

The SS Savages use steel spurs. Surely those wouldn't strip out. I assume you're referring to the plastic spurs?

ya know... ive heard people talk bad about steel spur steel pinion but i run it on my xt8 and LOVE it.

sure its a little louder but ive had so many times when the motor gets knocked loose and theres HORRIBLE mesh. but no strippage

i dont think ill go to plastic/steel or anything else.

Tire Diameter (inches): 7.5
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Motor Current Draw: 60
Motor coil Ω: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 4.08 : 1
Total Ratio: 20.69531 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 23.56 inches (598.47 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 51060 RPM

Your joking... But I had my Savage clocked on GPS last summer at 52mph and it was very difficult to manage. I could see the crash at that speed being very spectacular.
