Which creates more interence a brushless motor near a reciever or a brushless motor over the controller? The reason I ask is because I have the novak hvmaxx and wanted to use the gmaxx motor mount. However, the gmaxx motor mount would raise the 8 oz motor higher than using the stock emaxx motor plate. What do you guys think?
Nobody says you have to use the upper motor mount position. Put the motor off to one side and it will be lower than the stock position. the tranny is already about a half inch lower. I usually put my motor on the opposite side as the steering servo, as low as possible. You may need to put the motor up one spot from the bottom position on the motor mount to make room for the speed controller.
I was just thinking about the motor mounting position. Good thing I asked because I was going to mount the motor on the same side as the steering servo. Would there be any interference from the motor to the controller.
You shouldn't get any interference. I would re-solder the motor wires so they are shorter and run directly to the controller (maybe on opposite side of the motor solder board). The Novak is a cluster of wires!
Well I finally got my motor mounted to the side. However, I did have to slide the contoller to the side a little. I havent cut the wires yet since I doubt my soldering skills:M: One thing I noticed is that with the stock suspension sags a little due to the heavy motor. I used to be able to drop the emaxx from above my head (i stand 5'9") and the suspension would soak it up. Now if I drop it from just above my knee it will bottom out but not bad. Hopefully I cant fix all this when all my suspension components arrive.:cool:
It is alright if the suspension bottoms out. That is what the skid plates are for. If you are a big jumper, then go to heavier oil, but for racing, the sweet set-up will usually bottom out on the bigger jumps, but soak up the smaller jumps and bumps on the track without upsetting the chassis.
