Seriously, how fast do you WANT to gear it for???

I'd go for a battery with a solid 100A continuous rating.

Yeah, a 3700 25C Lipo would do good...
what about 24/51 gearing... that's what I was using with a 7XL on 4S....

What kind of spur is it? The biggest I found to mate with that slipper is the 40t revo gear. That said I haven't looked further than my spares box :P I did a quick search on tower and all the other spurs for that slipper and 32p for the jato and tmaxx...

My buddy just put his VXL stampede back together with a 7XL and BK9920 or 5S. He hasn't drove it yet, but we have no idea what gearing to put on it. He wants 70+ is all he said....

4s 3700 sounds good. You could go bigger to a fp 4900 4s. Weight should not be an issue with an 8xl.

I would put a 40t revo spur on and use an 18t mod1 pinion. That will get you to about 60mph with stock height tires. Sounds like fun!

thats a lot of motor for a Rustler, I have a 9L in my Rustler with a True RC 15c 4s 5000mah lipo. Geared with a jato 54 tooth spur and a 15 tooth 32 pitch pinion and that has all the power you need, anymore and it would be too out of control

We setup my friends stampede with a 9l on 3s and it has all the power it needs. 4s would be crazy.

I will say its borderline crazy...., you need to have a lot of control with the throttle, you cant go WOT from the start, you need to have the truck rolling before you go WOT, I have had some nice cat walks, I have put some fishing weights in the nose and that has helped in keeping the nose down and make the Rustler a bit more stable

Is there any kind of mod that needs doing to fit the monster gt spur on? I'm assuming your using the 3 bolt style revo slipper on the rustler...
Its a direct fit on the old style slipper, which is what I use. With slight modding (drilling out some holes) it can be used on a revo spec slipper
