Toughest basher: Savage or 1/8th buggy

Hi all!
What do you think would be a really tough backyard basher with a new MMM and KB45XL? The Savage looks really big and has lots of aftermarket parts at RC-M, but something like the Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium might be even harder to break? Any comments on which will survive my dangerous driving style longest?? Thanks all.

The KB45XL is too big/heavy for a lighter buggy, and much better suited to the larger/heavier Savage . What kind of bashing do you plan on doing? The Savage has more ground clearance, so it can go places the buggy can't. On the other side, a buggy can perform much better on less rough surfaces than the Savage.

The savage is tough, just make sure the diffs have the al cups and are shimmed correctly. I run one with a 14xl feigao on 8s lipo and it is a blast to drive. I have not broken anything except a tire and a body!

metalman I plan to bash around the yard which has some nice rockpiles as well as a lot of grass so I guess it's pretty general kind of bashing- I take your point about the ground clearance so I lean towards the savage on that count. Can the savage be flattened out much to allow better handling on the days I feel like that sort of thing??
Lincpimp that is a fabulous photo. The body looks like it went under a train. Looks like it might be the savage then- takes a lickin' and keeps on.....

You could go middle ground and go for a truggy. More clearance than the buggy and better handling than the savage.

The buggy would be the toughest basher, if you take an A brand buggy; they use about the same driveline as the savage, but they are lighter and use smaller diameter wheels. This makes them relative tougher!

Thanks jhautz- what would be the top of your list for that? I am trying to stay under $400 USD and am looking around everywhere I can.
Serum that's interesting- is "A brand" a generic name for the top few, or does it mean something else? I see what you mean about toughness- adding mass to increase strength increases momentum which increases damage, so it is a pretty puzzle....

To be honest the CEN truggy and buggy are tough as nails. They are a name brand, but not a big name like Losi, Mugen or Xray. But if you are using it for bashing I really have to say they build a pretty bulletproof setup. Only downside is there really isnt a drop in conversion for them. The Kyosho motor mounts from RCM work, but they take a little tweaking.

For something that you can get an off the shelf conversionkit for and not break the bank, look at something that may not be the latest and greatest and you can probably find yourself a great deal. The LSP comes to mind.

I am talking about either a losi, associated, Mugen or Xray.

They can take a beating. however, the savage is tough too. I have had many of them, and you can do amazing jumps with them.

I am kind of in the same boat as you ICUBoy as I am wanting to start a new project that would be the ultimate basher... powerful/fast and tough. So I'll be watching this thread.
