I don't like the fact you are forced to use novak motors on them so I will refrain myself. I think the should have made them with mounts to allow any standard motor, which I think would increase their sales in the long run.

Have you guys seen the latest crop of magazine articles? I saw two bl vehicles, a revo and an emaxx in there, both with novak 4.5 systems. Not much mention was made of the lack of a lvc, and the gearing on the revo looked suspect. I also saw a recent revo conversion that had the novak setup, stock 2 speed tranny and no mech brakes! Plus he was running a 6.5hv on 3s lipo?!?!?!?!?
Some of the magazine guys are strange, and I really question what they know....
I can only imagine what they will do when the mamba monster w/motor combo comes out.

A 6.5hv will work just fine on 3s. That's a 3400kv motor, so at 11.1v it's spinning 37,740 rpm, that's pretty fast to me. I usually aim for around 29-34k when I pick out my battery motor combo (depending on track size). As for the brakes, they may have not been put on for the studio shots but I can only guess as to why they're not there.

Yeah, personally I think they know nothing. They just build a truck to complete a conversion to advertise a "new" product, and don't custom make anything, to just show what you can get. As far as I'm concerned, you can beat anything "out of the box" with something with that great personal touch.

A company as big as Novak and this is the best they can do? Do they really think everyone will buy their HV (Not HV if you ask me) esc/motor for 1/8 scale? They have the buying power to actually make a kit of their own. Lets not forget, Castle too will be offering a similar kit, but you can use other motors with that one. I would really expect something different from this big companies. I posted some pictures of what I designed in radiocontrolzone's Caster thread and some of the guys there didn't like what I did. I was just trying to prove a point. If a guy like me with no experience at all can make a kit from the ground up, why can't the big companies do one as well? Are they too proud that they only think what they make is the best for all of us? This is my wondeful thought. Most of you will not agree, but hey I sometimes like to be different and stir up trouble .

The buggy kits are almost worth purchasing for the molded batt trays alone. Can't beat the price when other vendors charge nearly the entire kit costs; just for molded chassis trays...

I guess that is one reason I stopped reading the magazines. some of the setups just make you wonder. I also get tired of the mag being 90% trash and advertisements, the other 9.5% nitro, and .5% electric and you're lucky if it's even worth reading.

We all know that5 you like to stir the pot! You do it so well too! I always get a laugh, as I can "read" your sarcasm. You do make a good point, the novak setup is not HV, just higher voltage than their 2s systems. Novak are a racing company (that like to make the rules) and are trying to get into the growing larger scale conversion market. Nothing against their hv, but I am not impressed, and the price is too much. They sell the hv motors with the 5mm shafts for more than 150! You can get a mega, or medusa for that price, almost a neu.

The mag guys do suck, they occasionally come up with something good, but those are few and far between. I guess that they are catering to the cretinous noobs, and not the rest of us who know what we are doing!

The novak motor has a small diameter rotor/magnet assy, so it does not have much torque. It prefers higher motor speed and lower gearing. No comparision to a xl motor in the torque department. I cannot really see why anyone would do that. I have a hv6.5 in my crt.5 on 3s lipo, and it sucks, I tried to gear it up for more speed, and just lost power. I am comparing it to a plett maxximum, but it still sucks for a 150 dollar motor.

Yep, 90% trash, and all of those maxamps ads just make me wonder. I do love the reader vote crap, one mag even put servos and escs in the smae category. How stupid is that? That would be like putting 1/10 nitro truck and 5th scale in the same category. Makes me wonder...

They did that because they just used the nitro motor mount holes in the chassis for their motor mount. They did that on all of the novak kits. Not really a well thought out approch IMO. They just slapped it in however it fit easiest. No consideration for balance or maintenence.
Love that factory motor fan... How about a motor that doesnt overheat so you dont need a fan.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Oh I agree with you lutach. I chalk the Novak deal all up to arrogance, as I have said before. They seem to think people will buy their products just because it's novak.

I still have a busted HV controller here, but good news is that I can use 4S with my HW controller with the motor which is more of a racing controller then the most racier controller Novak has (Crap that made no sense at all. It did in Portuguese though ). My TC3 Truggy with the HV4.5 and my HW controller is just awesome. The fan will be put to good use too and it'll keep my Scorpion controller cool . I'm pretty sure you guys have seen what some of the members here have done. I wish I had the talent to build such machines and esc (Artur). I have ideas and that's all. There will be a new company that will offer a new 1/10 scale esc and HV esc that will be 12S and 20S. Guess who is helping them . You guys will be blown away by what the controller will feature. I will be going to test the 1/10 scale after it's done. I hope they don't turn out to be like HW and good thing I didn't give HW all the info for the ultimate controller.
P.S.: lincpimp, you are the master of causing trouble . You made a company get out of this wonderful forum . Master, will you teach me your WU TANG style .
