Uh-oh.. Think I killed my Lehner.. repair experiences? - 05.28.2008, 12:00 PM

I was driving my CRT.5 hard thru the grass the other day running, and was a bit lazy to bring down the gearing from 18/46 for spd runs to a more reasonable 14/46 offroad. I thought I'd just drive it a bit... well I pushed it too hard, one of the solder joints for the delta wiring config (this is a non-hi amp motor) melted and the truck started stutter badly. Motor was like 180F too (could be worse.)

Well I redid the solder traces, but the motor is still cogging badly and the power is weak and the motor heats up pretty fast. Has anyone had their LMT traces melt? I know I've read of some a while ago before LMTs went scarce. Did anyone else have this prob & ideas to fix it? Any idea on repair costs and experiences w/ Lehner?

Fortunately I have a 12S to put back into the CRT.5. I was wanting to race it at barnstormers on 6/8 with a few others from here. Hope it holds up.

Finnster - either way come - I think I will have a complete spare CRT .5 2600 ammo and have a MM4600/MM5700 that could drop in with lower gearing...

Repair times from Lehner are LONG. It took me 5 months to get one replaced; though they did replace it at no charge.

5-6 months???!!! Frickin Germans, but kinda figured that. Thank god for Neu. 2wks for a failed 1515.

Oh well. I wonder what it would cost to make it a high amp, prolly a fortune tho.

Arct1k: I do have a spare 540 12s that I pulled from my rustler. I brought the truck w/ me today to see how it runs, should be close to the same. The track shouldn't be too demanding so hopefully temps will be ok.
