How do you get your rocker arms off their posts? - 05.31.2008, 05:29 PM

Mine seem to be mounted pretty solid.

I can't get the post out of the bulkhead. I don't have a wrench thin enough to fit between the rocker and the bulkhead, so I'm trying to get the rocker arm off first.

Thanks.

Well, I've basically used all the brute force my body can muster. I guess I'll just leave them on until I can pick up another set of rockers to replace the ones I cut off. :P

just slap the small traxxas wrench on the bolt near the chassis on the rocker shaft, then use the hex driver to unscrew the little top screw. Then the rocker will just slide off and you can change.

Unfortunately the gap between the bulkhead and the rocker wouldn't allow me to get the wrench in there. But I managed to get the rockers off with a little silly-work with a flathead screwdriver.

Are you prepping your bad boy it for those P3 rockers??. (for what it's worth)I used traxxas aluminum Rocker Arm Post #5354X for 12.50 they save weight and have held up great so far..

Just a thought..

P.S.
Great build you've got going on by the way Matt...

Naw. Just disassembling to clean the beast up. Wanted to make sure the bearings were in top shape, too. I didn't think the P3's work with the RPM arms?

They should work Matt?, but you will need to buy the P3 pushrods the p2’s will not work on p3 rockers.. That I know for a fact..

Regardless best of luck on your reconstruction Matt!..

Thanks! It's all in one piece now. I'll look into the P3 rods, since I already have a set of P3 rockers. :)

unless you run on flat surfaces only... iE no jumps or bumps at all stick w/ the p2 setup it is 100X better. I just played with all the tuning options and can tell you from experience those would be great running flat but bashing or racing hitting jumps etc etc.. nowhere near the level of precision as when you run the p2's. If you feel like spending money upgrade to the new traxxas 17mm hubs and go w/ proline velocity rims w/ 1/2" offsets.. it's a HUGE improvement over stock. Best bashing tire or all around tire is the proline badlands.. enjoy :)

I'm definitely going to grab a set of badlands when these HX5s are used up. I love the way they look!
