Question on a Mod1 pinion teeth shape? - 06.10.2008, 03:59 PM

Hi,

I got some Mod1 pinions I am thinking to see as my RC8 requires larger pinions for my motor. Anyway, the 16T pinion I have, its teeth look slightly different than the other mod1. Like they have a flat face on the sides of each tooth. Not wear mind you, just a flat face. Also, the teeth are not as deep.

Could this be a 32p pinion instead?

Check the diameter of the pinion - if 18mm it is mod1

As the number of teeth on a gear gets larger, the angle of attack between the pinion and spur changes - so you will see a difference in the appearance of the gears for every 4-5 teeth you go up.
