does anyone have their shock mounting this way? -

have you guys tried this..i was just browsing the forum and some guy says he runs his monster truck with the shocks more vertical in the front and lowers the back. so he has the front shocks; outer most shock tower hole & inner most suspension arm hole and the rear shocks; outer most shock tower & outer most suspension arm hole he says you can barely tell that the rear sits lower than the front , but as far as handling, its really great. he said he got the idea from his dirt bike or something.
"...front shocks; outer most shock tower hole & inner most suspension arm hole..."
= Really soft front suspension.
"...rear shocks; outer most shock tower & outer most suspension arm hole..."
= Really stiff rear suspension.
I can see that truck rolling in a hard corner since the front corner would dip and cause the rear wheel to lift. Unless he is using very light rear diff fluid, then it would just lose power in the turns and slow down that way. Nice I guess since you could stay on-power through the turn, but it would be a waste of battery capacity.
he didnt post a picture. but from picturing in my head, it seems that he has it softer suspension in the rear and stiffer in the front. when you corner the front dips to the outside, raising the inside rear, causing traction loss. so what this guy has done is counter the effect which increased his handling...i think....
standing up is good for jumps, up and down with less side to side dampening. exactly opposite for laying them down.
it is all in what you are trying to accomplish in your setup to fit your driving style. what one person does might not work for another. best thing to do when figuring your setup is to hit the track, and do laps. then change only 1 thing and drive it and record what you have changed and how it was affected on the track. then change one more thing and drive and record etc etc. after you do this on a couple tracks and understand what each setting is supposed to affect (most manuals for decent rc's show this. if not the xray xb8 manuals have awesome setup info for each change and what they do)
learn to do it yourself, not what others use. I have tried some radical setups and hated the car. I didn't drive like the guy who's setup I copied.
k just came back from trials on concrete and yes, i did notice a slight improvent with just lowering one notch. imma keep it this way. quick question. since im only lowering one notch, is there any difference if i put the shock on the inner most hole on the shock tower and leaving the shock in the middle in the arm, vs middle hole on shock tower and outer most hole in the arm. i tried both but couldnt notice any difference at all. maybe you guys that know more about this could tell me.
thanks for that link. great info up in there. wow that xb8 is one hecka of a car. ttotallly tunable in soo many ways.
i also read the diff instructions and learned that when refilling diff oil, fill it up to halfway of the shaft. i know your not suppose to fill it up to the top, but halfway to the shaft was alot less than i would have done. i think i was told to fill it up to the top of the spider gears teeth.
