mamba micro pro 4200 on 2s? - 07.15.2008, 05:57 PM

hey guys i just got an rc18 from a member on the forum and am just wondering how the 4200 motor would work on 2s?

im really hoping to get all of this done before i leave to hawaii (sunday) so i need to figure out what im going to do asap!

the 4200 is 120 bucks and the 8000 is 135. (im ordering from pchobbies on ebay... they live in CA so it will get here before sunday almost fo sho if i do priority shipping.)

i wont be going more than 2s lipo 6 cell nimh so what would be an ideal setup?

http://search.stores.ebay.com/Pacifi...669876QQsofpZ0

theres the link to the 2.

thanks alot guys!

If you're only planning on 2s max, then the 4200 will be way to slow for you. The 5200 was even to slow for me. I'd say go with the 8000.

By the time I was done with my RC18, it was running a 9200 on 3s. Absolutely insane, but broke something almost every run...except the Mamba and motor.

i personally like the 6800 on 2s/6 cell nimh runs good temps low and all the speed i need for this small of a car.

2s and a 4200kv motor does pretty good up to low-mid 20s, much longer runtime and better acceleration but topspeed to be desired running in big spaces, i ran the trinity 4400kv motor on 2s in my now for awhile and it was perfect for the track (1/18th scale tracks that is).

if you try and gear up to much for much over low 20s itll start to run hot, but then agian my now is alot heavy than a lil rc18t

The 4200 will be very slow on 2s. I am running the Mamba Micro Pro 6800 in my RC18 on 2s lipo, and love it. Long run times, great top speed and fast acceleration.

Why not try to find another place in CA that has the 6800 in stock?

i say go 8000 just dont change your gearing. keep it stock 18t gearing.

and all hobbypeople stores have it for like 139.99 for the 8000 and 119.99 for the 6800 and im sure there is a hobbypeople store around you lol.

with the 18th scale stay away from Mamba motors IMO they suck..go with a Neu 1105/2y on 3s or a Hyperion Yc-22 long can both motors have extra torque that the Mamba dont so you can gear up for extra speed...but I really do like the ESCs especially the Micro pro

my future plan is to try the 1105/2y on 4s....I will be sure to have plenty of diffs on hand...LOL

yep any wheel for 12mm hex. And any motor 6800kv and above should do great on the 2s

The motor you got with it is the 8000kv but is a castle motor.

I fly, I drive, but most of all I crash.
