Which radio should I buy? - 07.23.2008, 10:45 PM

I've determined my problem to be my airtronics system and receiver.

I therefore need a new radio set. My budget is 150.

Should I get the spektrum DX2 or the futaba 3pm fm?

I only bash, so spektrum isn't really that appealing to me for the money. How are the futabas? Should I just buy the spektrum?

My set up is a mm with Mike's BEC, neu 4s 5ah pack, ae servo, and a fegiao 8xl.

Thanks.

I prefer futaba over spectrum. Just sold 2 3pm systems...

I have an associated xp3d radio that I will let go cheap. It has modules so that you can run 27am 27fm and 75fm. It currently has 27mhz fm module.

Search my user name on rctech if you want more info...

I was able to get a brand new Spektrum DX3.0 for $160 on ebay. Just have to find the right deal. You can't go wrong with anything 2.4ghz though...

Another vote for the Futaba 2.4GHz 3PM. I have 2 of them :).

Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)

I use that controller, I really like it. No issues to complain about at all. I use it with MMs, MMs w/bec, VXLs, my homebrew ebay esc, I had used it with MMM and will again. That deal at amain is nice, thats about what I got it for with a coupon at tower. Cant beat amains $85 receivers for it !

I have 3 mx3-s radio systems. They aren't the 2.4ghz version, but 75mhz FM. Great radios, but they lack channel mixing if that's something you need.

i had the mx-3 too. Great radio just not 2.4 but since you dont care about that you are good to go. I only switched because i do a lot of meets and the frequency board was getting pretty full. for the 50 over budget the 3pm fasst is really great. I have a 3pk but the 3pm uses the same technology just not all the bells and whistles on the tx itself.

IMO
could get you by easily - mx-3
future proof and only 50 over budget - 3pm fasst
also dont forget the 3 easy pay from tower so it doesnt hurt your wallet all at once.

Well, i have a regular MX-3 now, and from what I've read I think it's the airtronics gear interfering with the cc mm controller. So the MX3-S is out

I think I may just sell my MX-3 and use that money in combination with my budget and buy the 3pm Faast.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the fast responses!

That is what I have at the moment. Have had it now for around 5 years. Great radio and doesn't feel cheap like the Spektrum radios
