CC's 2200 KV motor will be good as Neu 1515? - 07.24.2008, 06:52 PM

IM about to order the MMM since I already have the 1512 2.5d motor but I saw an ad at tower selling MMM 2200KV motor combo for only $262. Im already paying about 160 for the MMM and for 100 bucks more I think its a steal..

Do you think the quality of CC motor will be good as Neu? kinda confused..

Haven't seen much detail - they are supposed to be Neu designed, just produced in China. Besides that and the kv is about all I've seen. I'd expect them to be pretty good since CC is involved.

Looking at BPP site, it appears as though they have a 1515 1y, and a 1.5d motor available? Any other info on the motor choices?

Sounds like a feigao to me... Hacker design (not as good a neu design) and chinese materials. I am sure that castle will turn out a decent motor. After all, they are claiming the 1y will be good for 6s lipo usage... and the 2600-2700kv motor (1515 1.5d?) will be good for 4s.

I will wait until a few people have some time on the motors before I buy one. My v1 MMM is still working, and I have plenty of motors...

No one mentions the 2600 motor being smaller so I'd say it's a 1515. It would be great if they did make a 1512 though.

Price has jumped from 260 to near 300 dollars.
I won't be surprised if it goes up to 350. Afterall, making a motor as good as a NEU and at the same time way cheaper is quite difficult, imho.

I have ordered from BPP before and they have lousy costumer service. their prices are great but if you have to wait 2 or more weeks then saving $10 or so aint worth it. Order from Tower, this combo and pay only about $260 bucks. Its 296-35 savior discount and pay about 261. That a good deal..

They have good service but like mike are a 1 man outfit and hence drop the ball every once in a while - Sometimes supporting the little guy does some good i.e. this forum.

I don't see tower taking back my 1 year old charger and flashing it to the new firmware for free... Troy did this in fact he gave me the new model of charger the 606i at no charge

This is what Patrick posted on another thread:

Quote:
Oh boy -- I gotta jump in here...

First of all, the Castle Neu motors are not yet in production -- we are still hammering out some production issues (mostly magnet procurement...)

Second, the Castle Neu motor is hand wound. I don't believe you can machine wind the Neu design (it's an internal wind -- can't be wound on a fly winder.)

Third, it does run at pretty much the same efficiency as the original Neu -- it is exactly the same design, except for the carbon winding on the rotor, and case and bearings (heavier case, larger bearings.)

Thanx!

Patrick

The first two motors will be 2200Kv (1515/1Y) and 2600Kv (1512/1Y)

We will add additional motors later.

Sweet I missed this completely. It's a shame it's not the 2200kv 1512 as it would make gearing easier and the rules for brushless 1/8th here sounds like it will require lower kv motors then this.

I helped start up an opeation in China in 2006-07. They work real hard and try very hard, but in my experience, the language barrier leads to a lot of problems. You can get a Chinese translator to rewrite your test protocols and sometimes you hardly recognize what the Chinese do based on that translation.

I was part of setting up a core storage, core analysis facility and literally you had to take them and show them on the equipment, step-by-step what you really wanted and sometimes more than once. Their language and ours are not very compatible and sometimes just does not translate directly and unless you've bumped into it personally its hard to appreciate how difficult it can make things. You're trying, they're trying, just can't quite seem to get together. I've also seen their excitement when they finally do catch on, that's cool to see it happen.

I suspect CC has seen this already.
