What are these batteries? - 07.27.2008, 06:10 PM

Hey guys my moms laptop just kicked the bucket.. i was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of batteries these are.. the case says 10.8v 4400mah and there are 6 cells.. so im gessing its just a li-ion 2200mah cell?

think they are worth running?

They're by LG. 3.6v 2200mAh is correct. Doubt they're much good for anything other than their original purpose. Most cylindrical Li-Ion have low discharge rates. There are a few out there that will do well though in higher draw applications. I have several old laptop packs I've dismantled. With 3 of the cells in series you can make a darn nice TX pack. I have three made from sony cells.

not sure if you could run them as an RX pack. 4 aa's is 6v, and 2 of these would be 7.2v. might be tough on the servo's and radio. I use 3 of them in my MX-3s radio's.

3 of them wired sxs will just barely sqeeze into the battery tray. It does sort of bend the cover out just a hair, but so far no problems. They charge quick, and last for a very long time.

you could use them as rx packs with a voltage regulator like novaks or use an ubec

Don't try it. The first blip of the throttle you'll be needing a fire extinguisher .

I meant TX. 3s Li-Ion in my Aitronics TX's charge up to 12v, and last for a very long while. I have not seen any ill effects from this and I've been using them for about 6 mos.

You could run 3S10P and you will still need a fire extinguisher. Those cells are only good for 5A max draw.

Why not just blow 'em up? You don't seem to have problems doing that with other laptop packs...
