Gorillamaxx Custom Motor mount - 08.03.2008, 02:27 AM

Can anybody tell me where to get this motor mount for the Gorillamaxx?

I think this is suicideneils truck (sorry if I din't get your permission first).
I want to get hold of the mount so I can mount a Plettenbeg Big Maxximum onto the Gorillamaxx without having the tranny in the way. The current Gorillamaxx single mount will not do the same job.

FYI - that motor mount only works with the G2 chassis brace and braces. The G3 braces don't have the mounting holes on the chassis braces and also don't have the slot on the lower plate to allow this to fit. There is also quite a bit of flex in that particular mounting position.

Thanks Mike. I got a G2 chassis with a Gorillamax gearbox. I am trying to experiment with different motors and finding it difficult to mount a chunky C50 Hacker. I have tried Feigao, Lehner, Neu and just want to experiment with the different attributes of each motor to compare speed, accleration, temps, current consumption etc. With the Hacker I am limited to a 72 Spur gear and the one or two different pinions.

If you drop the motor to the lowest posistion on either side, there is much less flex, and still no loss of space. Im back to running a normal-ish motor mount now, but I may have to work some more custom magic if my hacker clone is too fat to allow 24/62 gearing to mesh correctly...

Thanks for the advice - quite tempted to get somebody local to machine a stronger aluminium piece with the same design to stop the flex. I was also thinking of making a simple aluminium mount in the traditonal emax design with further away mounting locations ie 'mickey mouse ears' and using a large pinions..

A one-piece copy of the gorillamaxx design would be good, made from thicker/stiffer material (I'd buy that myself probably). The other option I've seen done a few times is to have two stock mounts, use spacers between them, and mount them one on-top the other, like a sandwich when viewed from the side or above (use the plastic gearcover mounting holes to mount the spacers). Then the motor can be flipped to face the opposite way, much like the gorillamaxx design, a bit like this:

Mounting 2 plates like a sandwich appears to be a cheaper and quicker option. Trying to work if the small holes for the gear cover will take the stress of having small spacers / stand off's separating the plates. I will give it a go.
